Desde abajo, por la izquierda y con la tierra
Con esta frase podríamos resumir la tesis central que el profesor Arturo Escobar, investigador de la Universidad de Carolina del Norte, nacido en Caldas, presentó en la Asamblea del Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales, Clacso, el cual se desarrolló en la ciudad de Medellín el pasado mes de noviembre. No pude asistir a la Asamblea, pero gracias a la internet y a las grabaciones de muchas de las conferencias del evento, tuve la oportunidad de escuchar al profesor Escobar, como si hubiese sido una asistente más a esta Asamblea.
En auditorios abarrotados especialmente de jóvenes, el profesor Arturo Escobar acudiendo a pinturas, poemas, saberes ancestrales y a múltiples investigaciones adelantadas en el mundo entero, buscó responder a la pregunta sobre la crisis del pensamiento crítico en la llamada América Latina y a los retos políticos que la izquierda y los diversos movimientos por la autonomía confrontan para contribuir a construir un planeta en el cual todas y todos podamos vivir con dignidad y en armonía con la tierra, con nuestra pacha mama; al resaltar que América Latina es hoy un entramado de mundos “pluriverso” donde se mezclan a manera de tejidos de pensamientos y de opciones de vida, millones de pobladores que buscan darle materialidad al anhelo de que otros mundos son posibles.
Señala Arturo Escobar que el pensamiento crítico está más vivo que nunca, muestra de ello lo constituyen las grandes y constantes movilizaciones sociales y políticas a lo largo y ancho de América del Sur; el creciente interés de las ciencias sociales por buscar un conocimiento que contribuya al “buen vivir “ como contrapropuesta al actual modelo de desarrollo depredador y sordo al cuidado del planeta; los múltiples trabajos que se adelantan hoy en una perspectiva de diálogo y encuentro de saberes entre pueblos indígenas, comunidades afrodescendientes, campesinos, mujeres e investigadores que han entendido que el sentido de su trabajo está en acompañar en la producción de prácticas de resistencia de cara a esta globalización mundial que pretende imponerse a un mundo hecho de muchos mundos, de entramados comunitarios, de mundos en movimiento.
Su llamado se centra en adelantar esta tarea en una perspectiva que nos permita reconocer nuestra condición de mujeres y hombres «sentipensantes», expresión acuñada por el maestro Orlando Fals Borda, que connota nuestra condición de seres con emociones, razones y acciones, que a su vez nos plantea que la naturaleza hace parte de esta condición de “ser sentipensante“, y por ello los animales, la naturaleza, el agua, no son cosas, sino seres en su multiplicidad y diversidad. Todos habitamos este planeta como “continuidad de la tierra», dice el profesor Escobar. Reconocer las prácticas de cuidado, tan claramente expresadas por las mujeres y escuchar el grito de los pobres y de la tierra, son los nuevos retos de la izquierda y de muchos movimientos sociales. También lo son subordinar la tecnología al buen vivir, igualmente la economía. No podemos permitir que “para que llegue el desarrollo tiene que salir la gente huyendo” a engrosar los cinturones de miseria de las grandes ciudades. Las nuevas luchas son contra el patriarcado, el despojo, la guerra. Proteger los territorios, acompañar el fortalecimiento de las comunidades, preservar las prácticas ancestrales.
Esta perspectiva crítica del profesor Arturo Escobar encuentra eco en muchas de las iniciativas de los movimientos sociales y políticos de mujeres, jóvenes, LGBTI, pueblos indígenas, comunidades afrodescendientes, campesinos, académicos, quienes desde sus luchas centenarias como indígenas y afrodescendientes, campesinos y otras luchas más recientes, exigen, no solo reconocimiento y redistribución, sino explorar más modelos alternativos al desarrollo que si bien promuevan justicia social y vida digna, dialoguen también con el cuidado del planeta. Más allá de la globalización capitalista “hay otros mundos posibles“, nos recuerda Arturo Escobar, si los tejemos desde abajo, por la izquierda y con la tierra.
